WORK EXPERIENCE
June 1998 to Present Chicago consulting companyEssbase consultant experienced in all aspects of Essbase development: report scripts, calc scripts, data load rules, dimension builds, design and optimization of Essbase models (a specialty), and partitioning databases. He also is experienced training clients on the Essbase OLAP server and Essbase Excel add-in. He has worked extensively with Hyperion's Web Gateway, deploying complete reporting solutions for two clients. One of his most critical tasks is preparing documentation on Essbase databases and their surrounding systems. He has used Essbase in UNIX and NT environments, and is comfortable with both platforms. He is also proficient in using the Essbase API with Visual Basic and the Excel add-in. One Essbase engagement was working with the client's Director of Budgeting to determine functional requirements. The plan called for the extraction of necessary data from Peoplesoft, use of MS Access to massage the data, importing of the data into Essbase (updating models as necessary), allowing users to enter budget data to Essbase via MS Excel, and exporting data from Essbase to Peoplesoft. During this process, he used Nvision queries to extract the necessary tree structures from Peoplesoft. Using this data, he was able to create parent-child format files to duplicate the structures in Essbase. He then developed a simple way for managers to enter budget data into Essbase via MS Excel. At the end of each day, the data is calculated and allocations run. Then the export from Essbase is performed using a report script. The data is then imported into Peoplesoft. HP-UX was the platform for both Peoplesoft and Essbase.
August 1997 to May 1998 Claricom, Inc.Service Analyst. This job required the design and redesign of a number of MS Access databases. Strong number and analytical skills were required. Tim was in charge of all monthly reports for the company's customer service department. He analyzed incoming data and carried out trend analysis for the performance of regional offices. He streamlined the existing customer survey database, added new features to make the database more user friendly, solidified the integrity of the data, and implemented an automated e-mail system in order to facilitate data transfer between the vendor and his group. He also wrote Visual Basic for Access and SQL to automate frequently required tasks such as exporting data to Excel for reporting purposes.
